Surabhee Gupta shares some words of wisdom and the inspiration she carries in her daily life in a candid conversation with us
- In brief, can you tell us about your 13 years of experience?
Frankly it doesn’t seem like it has already been 13 years. I still feel happy in the morning to go to Office. I started my career with a KPO in Delhi where I got my first brush with Digital. I was working on getting SEO ranking for some of major UK based clients. Post that I moved to Mumbai, the city of dreams. It has really helped in Nurture my dreams by providing me an opportunity to work with brands like ICICI and HDFC. For last 7 years I have been part of the eCommerce and Digital Marketing Channel at HDFC Life. Currently I am heading their eCommerce vertical where, with the help of a great team work & support, we have been #1 in Online Business for last 6 years. Overall, it has been a great learning and growth experience for me till now and hope to continue with the same.
- Tell us about the time you felt satisfied with the work you did?
Being the online trend setter it has never been that any success has just been satisfactorily. It has always given more strength & power to raise the bar further higher
- What key areas will you want to focus on in future and how do you plan to tap the untapped market in today’s time?
For any business customer is the key. Hence for all the work done the focus should always be them. Every campaign, creative and content should be kept them in mind. Then only you will find success. To further tap the untapped markets of Tier 2/3 cities we are planning to reach to these audience via regional language as we understand it will be more comfortable for them. Also we would be coming with products which are best suited for these customer’s pockets and requirements
- What is your life and work mantra that you follow?-
Be positive and work smart
- Your advice to people who face failure and problem in balancing work in the corporate job?
Success and failure are part of Life. The most important thing is remain positive and have faith in yourself during the failure that it will get better with effort and time. If you lose faith in yourself then you would never ever overcome it. The attitude makes a lot of difference on how you move ahead from the downs in life
The problem in maintaining work life balance comes only when people give one part of their life bigger priority than other. They are like your two hands. Both are important. You can’t keep focusing on one and ignore the other.
- If not this profession what would you have been doing?
Most likely I would have been an artist (painter or dancer) or would have been part of the family business
- Who is your inspiration and what gets you going even after so many years?
Anyone and everyone around me inspires me depending on the situation. During the heavy rains in Mumbai when I see the courage of my cook battling it just to make sure we don’t starve that inspires me to also come to office and use the perfect excuse of not going to office.
The fun of working with a wonderful team, exploring newer innovations on the digital platform and solving the daily challenges is something that motivates me.
